Information from Rugby Tourism Quality Assurance - the future From 1 April 2005 a new company took over the Quality Assurance schemes on behalf of VisitBritain. VisitBritain has contracted GSL to administer and implement the schemes. For the first time ever, England, Wales and Scotland have all signed up to the same process. Diamonds (for Guest Houses) will disappear and Hotels and Guest Houses alike will have a star rating, albeit with different colour stars. The new system started with self-catering establishments in April 2005, and then Hotels and Guest Houses will come into the scheme from April 2006. VisitBritain will set the prices and competition will be maintained since the AA and the RAC will continue to run their own system. GSL, Global Solutions Limited, is an international, outsourcing company with 10,000 employees.
